KampusbeT ~ " Manchester City ready to gamble on Vincent Kompany as talismanic skipper returns for title run-in "
Agen SbobeT ~ Manuel Pellegrini is ready to gamble Manchester City’s title hopes on Vincent Kompany’s troublesome calf.
Kompany
is back after seven weeks out for Sunday's clash with title rivals
Tottenham and Pellegrini admits he cannot guarantee he will not break
down again.
Kompany
has been sidelined three times this season because of recurring calf
problems and City’s talismanic skipper and defensive cornerstone has
started just eight Premier League games.
He has been to see specialists in the US and in Europe and Pellegrini admits he cannot be certain he will not have more trouble.
“It’s
impossible to know,” said the City boss. “But he’s working without any
problems, without pain, so it would be bad luck if he had another
injury.
“It’s very difficult to find out particular things about a muscle
injury. There are lot of things you can do to try to have fewer
injuries, but no-one will be sure you’re not going to have any more.
“Vincent
has worked the last three weeks without any problems. He played 45
minutes in a friendly with the Under-21s so I think that he is ready now
to play.”
City badly need Kompany to stay fit for the remainder
of the season as they push for the quadruple and they have won just
seven of their 16 Premier League games without the Belgium star,
conceding 24 goals.
Pellegrini said: “I think that you have seen
Kompany playing so many years here that I don’t have to say what Kompany
brings to the team.
Bandar Judi Online SbobeT ~ “He is one of the best defenders in the league, he is the captain of the team. He is also a very important player for our team.”
Kompany’s return is all the more welcome for City because they are
without the injured Bacary Sagna, Eliaquim Mangala, Jesus Navas,
Fabian Delph, Samir Nasri, Kevin De Bruyne and Wilfried Bony tomorrow.
Pellegrini
says Delph could be out for up to seven weeks with Achilles trouble,
meaning he could miss England’s friendlies against Germany and Holland
at the end of next month.
“Delph has a problem in the tendon of his Achilles,” said the Chilean. “It will be six to seven weeks for his recovery.”
City have slipped six points behind leaders Leicester and are a point
behind second-placed Spurs, but Pellegrini refuses to see tomorrow’s
game as make or break.
“It’s not a decisive game, but it is a
very important game,” he said. “Of course, after that you have to play
another 36 points. But for our team it is very important to try to
return as soon as we can to the top of the table.
“We are always thinking that we can do it.”
