Agen MaxbeT  ~   Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has been named as one of NME magazine's 'People of the Year'.

The music publication has listed Frenchman Flamini alongside names such as former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher and pop superstar Taylor Swift.

His tenacious performance in front of the Gunners' back four has won him many plaudits, but it is his actions off the field which have caught the eye of the compilers of the list. 

Flamini owns his own biochemical company, aiming to provide alternative fuel to oil, which he kept secret from 2008 up until last month.

Speaking to Sideline Football, Flamini revealed: "I've always been very close to nature and always very concerned by climate change and all the problems with the environment.

"We knew it was going to be difficult because many people tried [to do this] and many people failed. But we started with a bit of hope and after seven years we are growing."
