Chelsea are enduring their worst start to a season in 37 years with the champions currently sitting 16th in the table, four points off the relegation zone.

Mourinho himself admitted it is the worst period of his career and shocked fans with a bizarre seven-minute rant following the defeat by Southampton in which he appeared to dare the Roman Abramovich to sack him. 

But the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, as well as John Terry, have since offered their backing to the Portuguese coach . 

And now Fabregas has added his voice to the choir.

“Personally, he helped me in a very complicated moment of my career and he gives me confidence.

“I will do whatever he asks. In face-to-face situations he helps me a lot and I respect him for that. We [Chelsea] are not well, but we will do better. We have the best coach for the club.

People have not forgotten that five months ago we won the Premier League and a cup, but we have to change the situation fast and soon.”

Chelsea face fellow strugglers Aston Villa next in the league, and three days later they travel to Ukraine where they will be looking to reignite their European campaign against Dynamo Kiev.
